This game is the third instalment of the popular Zeus series created by WMS. The main character in this slot is Zeus who was the ruler of all gods on Mount Olympus. Zeus was also known as the sky and thunder god. This game is hugely popular in casinos floors across America so naturally, it was only a matter of time before it became available in digital format.

Special Features

The first feature I noticed while playing is the Wild symbol and it is denoted by an image of a fine Coliseum. It substitutes for all symbols except the Feature symbol. If you manage to land a full reel of Zeus symbols in the main game then it will transform into a Wild reel.

The Feature symbol is denoted by Zeus’s hand holding a lightning bolt. If you land 3 or more of these symbols anywhere on reels 2-6 then you will activate the Free Spins feature. Land 3 symbols and you will get 10 free spins, 4 will give you 25 plus a 10X multiplier, and 5 will give you 50 and an amazing 50X multiplier. A cool thing about this feature is that the reels flip from left to right and right to left and this greatly increases your chances of a big win.

Keep an eye out for the Zeus symbol in this feature as these symbols will nudge to fill the entire reel transforming it into a Wild reel. It is also possible to retrigger Free Spins by landing more Feature symbols but be aware that these symbols will not appear on reel 6 throughout the feature.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

The game is wonderful to look at and I was blown away by how the reels are displayed. It is a set of mini-reels attached together with a small reel containing 2 symbols as reel 1 and the largest reel is reel 6 with 7 symbols. It is highly innovative and it would be cool to see more games display their reels in this way. The backdrop is full of white fluffy clouds overseeing Mount Olympus and when you trigger the Free Spins feature, it changes to a wonderful cloudy orange background. Symbols are full of detail and they run nicely along the reels.

The music feels quite epic and it heightens the tension as you spin the reels. You can hear cracks of thunder in the distance, a howling wind and birds squawking nearby. This is a nice addition to the game as you know that Zeus is looking over your shoulder at all times!

Our Verdict on Zeus III

Zeus III is made by WMS and it’s a fantastic continuation of the Zeus series. I was very impressed by how the reels are displayed in the game and it is a nice representation of Greek mythology. The game is a high variance slot so if you are after a big payout then expect to invest some time into it.
