The Big Lebowski from 888: Slot Review - the rug really ties this slot together!
This game is based on the cult classic “The Big Lebowski” directed by the Coen brothers. The movie was released all the way back in 1998 and is still as funny and original today as it was back then. The film centres around a slacker by the name of Jeffrey more commonly known as “The Dude” who loves bowling but gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity and, of course, chaos and hilarity ensue.
It is a 5 reel slot game with 25 paylines and comes with features such as spares, a good night sweet prince bonus game, and a progressive Jackpot.
The first feature worth mentioning is the Wild symbol and this is denoted by The Dude’s beaten-down yellow car. It substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus symbol.
Another nice feature to this slot is the Spare mode. If you have a non-winning spin then you will be given a single free Spare spin. It’s a nice consolation when you don’t have any matching symbols on the reels. If the Wild symbol appears on reel 3 during a Spare spin then it will expand if a winning combination is possible. Unfortunately, the Spare feature cannot be retriggered.
The highest paying out symbol in the game is The Dude symbol. If you match 5 of these symbols then you will be treated to a 1,000X multiplier!
The Bonus symbol is denoted by a red tin can. If 2 of these symbols appear in the centre of reels 1 and 5 at the same time then the Good Night Sweet Prince bonus game will trigger. In this mini-game, you get to choose from items that contain various multipliers. The range of multipliers span from 3 all the way up to 33 so choose correctly and you will definitely hit a big strike!
The last feature to highlight is the progressive jackpot. This jackpot is awarded randomly and no matching symbols are required in order to win it. The size of the bet will determine the chances of winning this jackpot and it can’t be won on a Spare free spin.
Theme, Graphics and Sound
The game has some brilliant graphics and right from the start, players are treated to a fantastic intro video with The Dude sliding down a bowling alley lane full of cheerleaders! The main characters of the movie are displayed nicely as symbols in the game and The Dude and Walter sit firmly in the background staring directly at you.
The symbols run smoothly and I liked how the A, J, K symbols are displayed as bowling balls. The animations are also fantastic as when you form a winning combination on the reels, the character symbols will display a small excerpt from the movie.
The music is quite country but also very reminiscent of the film and it’s a nice touch as the film contained an amazing soundtrack.
