Jurassic Park from Microgaming: Slot Review - what a movie, what a game!

I have been a big fan of Jurassic Park ever since it blew box offices wide open back in 1993 as well as reading the book so I was quite eager to see what Microgaming did with this sacred movie.

Well, I can tell you that they did not disappoint and the game is a brilliant take on the movie and it really took me back to 1993 as soon as I saw all of the familiar characters pop up on screen.

The game itself is a 5 reel slot with up to 243 ways to win and comes with many unique features that will have you chasing dinosaurs for a long time to come!

Special Features

The first feature that I encountered was the T-Rex Alert Mode. It is a randomly triggered event and lasts for 6 spins. 35 Wild symbols are added to the reels for the 6 spins and this gives you the potential to win really big. The really nice thing about this feature is that the fearsome T-Rex will appear behind the reels while you play. The only downside of this feature is that you can’t increase your bet while the mode is active.

Another really cool feature of this game are the free spins. This is triggered when you land 3 or more of the Amber Scatter symbols. This opens up 5 free spins features and each has its own unique background and settings. When you start this feature. One of the five features will be selected at random but you will get to choose which feature yourself once you have used 25 free spins. Tyrannosaurus Rex: This feature has 12 free games and the T-Rex symbol can turn all reels Wild and it can be stacked.

Velociraptor: You get 12 free games, split wild icons and random wild multiplier of 4x, 5x or 6x. Split Wilds can create more winning chances such as 6 of a kind win. The Velociraptor symbol can also appear stacked.

Triceratops – You get 12 free spins with running Wilds, respins and random stacked nudges. After each spin the Wild stack grows by one Wild per reel. If you don’t win on a spin, full stacked Wilds will remain in place, partially stacked Wilds will nudge to form full stacks, while all remaining reels spin for one go. The Triceratops symbol is also stacked.

Brachiosaurus – Mystery multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 6x will be applied to a random number of free games. You can also trigger more free games with this feature.

Dilophosaurus – This nasty spitting dinosaur appears will spit at symbols and turning them wild. If you manage to create a winning combination with a winning wild, it will remain in place for your next spin.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

This game is one of the best looking movie tie-ins that I have ever played. The symbols, references and sound really bring the dinosaurs to life. This is all thanks to parallax scrolling which was first introduced with this game.

The animations are lovely to watch and the music is very atmospheric. It bounces along with background jungle noises and makes you feel like some raptors are watching you in a bush somewhere!

Another thing that I liked was that the individual free games had their own environments and sounds. This really stood out for me and I particularly enjoyed watching the Dilophosaurus spitting on symbols to turn them Wild!

The game has a staggering 243 ways to win, an excellent RTP of 96.67%, and a maximum payout worth over 6,480X your original bet!

Our Verdict on Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park is made by Microgaming and is an excellent tribute to a fantastic movie. If you are a fan of the original movie or just seen the recent Jurassic World then I would highly recommend giving this game a spin.
