Ace up your sleeve?

Blackjack is one of the most popular casino table games and has been for a very long time. With the coming of online casinos over the past few years, the traditional game has also been a major hit online. The original Blackjack game dates back as far as the 17th century and began its gaming life in France. The original game awarded players a special pay out for holding an ace and jack of spades and the card phrase a “black jack” was coined. Blackjack then ventured across the Atlantic ocean to the US after the French revolution and it then began to spread around the entire globe. The modern Blackjack card game has the player aiming for a hand total which is nearer to 21 than the dealer, without going over 21. There is a special pay out for a two-card hand which totals 21 and this is called Blackjack.

Blackjack Basics

As there are many different variants of Blackjack, each Blackjack game has a different set of rules. However, the majority of Blackjack games follow the same basic idea. Each Blackjack player at the table is dealt two face up cars, while the Blackjack dealer is dealt one card face up and one card face down. Each card in the game is worth a value. Ace cards are unique and can be valued as either 1 or 11, face cards are valued as 10 and 2 through 10 are valued as their number. Blackjack players must then decide on how to play their hand while aiming for a total hand value which is closer to 21 than the dealer without going over 21.
