Microgaming’s Play It Forward: Making that spin on Thunderstruck count double

2016-08-30 11:31:58

The Isle of Man-based software company Microgaming has announced that it donated £30.000 to charitable causes. The difference between the fundraising efforts of Microgaming and those of other companies is that the gaming giant asked its customers to decide on the charities that would receive the funds.

Microgaming asked their players to vote on a charity in each region: Isle of Man, UK and Europe, Africa and the Rest of the World. The charities chosen by Microgaming players were Wish Upon a Dream from the Isle of Man, CLIC Sargent in the United Kingdom, Save the Rhino for the African region and Cure Cancer Australia, all receiving a gift of £7.500 each.

"With rhinos facing extinction in the wild in just 10 years at the current rate of poaching, we really value Microgaming’s support in helping us protect rhinos,” said Josephine Gibson, Partnership Development Manager of Save the Rhino International.

Aside from praising Microgaming for its charitable zeal, the initiative, which runs under the clever name ‘Play It Forward’, shows that a player’s wager on Microgaming slots can a positive impact. Indeed, the gambling industry does not enjoy the best reputation; yet, as the Microgaming initiative indicates, change is possible.
