Huge online casino growth in Denmark

Denmark's online casino market is witnessing a huge growth these days as gross gaming revenue from sports betting and online gambling over the last year amounted to over €5 billion!

This is extremely impressive when you consider it is a 13% hike on the amount generated in 2015.

The Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden stated that online casinos were an area that saw the most growth in 2016. Gross Gaming Revenue for online casinos went up by 24% which is quite a leap!

Online slots have seen a year on year increase and this growth accounted for 72% of all internet gaming in Denmark in 2016.

However, it is not all good news as in the land-based market, slots in halls and restaurants were down 3% but casino gross gaming revenue was up 8.5%.

It will be quite interesting to see if online casinos can maintain this growth in Denmark throughout the rest of 2017.
