Online gaming technology provider Playtech announced that it had acquired social and mobile games provider Funtactix for an undisclosed sum. Funtactix is specialised in mobile games and social games based on motion pictures. To name but a few, since acquisition of Funtactix, Playtech can count The Hunger Games Adventures and Power Rangers UNITED to their games.

Whether or not Funtactix will retain all three offices in New York City, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv is unclear as of yet, given that the exact details of the deal have not been disclosed. In 2015, Funtactix created FTX Games, which helps third-party developers to team up with intellectual property holders.

“The Funtactix team remains focused on building FTX Games as a world-leading publisher of IP-based games, backed by Playtech's extensive internal game development resources,” Funtactix is quoted as having said.

Playtech’s announcement follows the purchase of Plamee in 2014 and Yoyo Games in 2015. Furthermore, Playtech is prepared to spend up to $55.6 million to purchase Swedish games studio Quickspin.
